Hotspots are wireless access points that allow users to connect to the internet in locally circumscribed areas, usually via a WLAN. They can equally be used, however, to distribute information to mobile devices via Bluetooth or infrared technology. Possible fields of application could be notice or advertisement boards.

At such hotspots, information can be accessed on user request via Bluetooth, infrared or wireless local area network connections. In addition, a possible alternative would send information to all ready-to-receive terminal devices in the hotspot after prior agreement by the user (permission-based/opt-in).
